A few of SNC SHRM members made their way to UW Oshkosh earlier this month. They participated in the 2013 Wisconsin SHRM State Conference and HR Games Competition. The members applied their Human Resource knowledge while watching the HR games. Last week, Linda Johanek, HR Director with Applied Behavior Analytics, spoke to us about the article “Why We Hate HR”. She gave great insight on the rumors, myths, and negativity about human resources. This week, SNC SHRM will be nominating and electing 2013-2014 E-Board members. All positions will be re-opened for the election. SNC SHRM is looking forward to having new ideas and new members serve on the E-Board.
Before the semester winds down, there are a couple exciting events to look forward to. In April, SNC SHRM will be having a speaker at one of their meetings and hopefully take part in the Green Bay Area SHRM breakfast regarding the “Future of HR” with Pam Green. Towards the end of the month, SNC SHRM E-Board members will be getting together for their semester E-Board social.
At St. Norbert, SNC SHRM is glad to be back in action! We have an exciting semester planned and are starting the semester off by “being professional”. In our upcoming meeting February, 13, members will have the opportunity to get a headshot that can be used for professional networking such as LinkedIn. This is great timing as summer is approaching and seniors are looking for full-time jobs and students are looking for internships. In the next couple months, HR professionals from local companies will be coming in to speak to students about their career and what Human Resources means to them. In less than a month, our members will be traveling to UW Oshkosh to participate in the 2013 WISHRM Student Conference and HR Games Competition. They are very excited to participate and learn new networking skills!
New e-board members were elected before last semester wrapped up. Congratulations to Carley Milbrath, Treasurer, Claire Hephner, Vice President, and Kaila Haen, VP of Programming and Public Relations/Webmaster, who all joined the SNC SHRM E-board. They are very excited to contribute to a successful semester! Also, congratulations to Jenna Hines on her recent job acceptance (see below) and Kaila Haen on her HR internship offer!
